ClashCalc was born out of necessity. Logan, as the clan leader, wanted a way to recognize each member's contributions fairly, but with a busy schedule, keeping up with everyone's stats became impossible. With 47 other members beyond our close-knit group, we needed a way to recognize everyone's hard work fairly, without favoritism.
At first, our solution was just a small mathematical equation, but it evolved as we grew as a clan. The solution started with an algorithm that captured what truly contributes to our clan's success—not just war performance, but also actions that show true clan spirit, like donations. When Logan pitched the idea, Bryan jumped in and turned it into a full-fledged website. Now, ClashCalc allows us to save time and ensure that all members are rewarded equitably. For both of us, this app is a way to lead our clan fairly, aligning with our shared values of recognizing team contributions.
As leaders, it was essential to make rewards equitable and unbiased. We've all been there, seeing a lower-level player outperform higher ones but missing out on recognition. The algorithm behind ClashCalc doesn't weigh things like troop or defense levels—it's designed to be fair across all metrics, giving every member an equal shot at recognition. This was particularly important to us after seeing highly active members at lower Town Halls go unnoticed in the stats.
Besides creating fairness, ClashCalc relieves our responsibility to manually track everyone's stats. With school, work, and life pulling us in different directions, this app became a game-changer for managing the clan effectively. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, showing us just how much this effort matters to our clan community.
We're friends, plain and simple. College students who, one day in sophomore year, decided to pick up Clash of Clans again. What started as a casual game quickly turned into a passion project as we pushed each other to grow, both in the game and as friends. We've bonded over everything from magic tricks and anime to building our clan together.
As for our roles, Logan is the clan leader who brings the team together, and Bryan, a computer science student, is the developer behind ClashCalc. This project wouldn't be what it is without both of us contributing what we do best. For us, ClashCalc is more than just a tool; it's the result of shared effort, values, and the bond we have as friends and teammates.
